Any 'automatic' policy, one-size-fits-all, is, sui generis, destined to
fail enough of the time to make it cruel and unusual. We need to remove
the type of thinking that led to no-strike and zero-tolerance and
replace it with a system that gives judges and administrators leeway to
do the right thing, as well as taking responsibility for the times they
screw up. That's basically what these policies are designed to do-
remove responsibility from those in power. But, to quote the wise man,
with great power comes great responsibility. If you want the job, buck
up and do it!
