Path to Oppression
The supreme court has opened the path to oppression. The removal of one's right to vote is oppression. In addition, placing obstacles to that right to vote can rise to the level of oppression. We, as Americans, need to rise above the urge to oppress parts of our electorate because of their race, color, creed, or sexual orientation. As we speak, states are actively engaged in processes to make students who vote have extreme difficulty to do so. Other states are cutting access to polling places in predominantly African American and Latino areas. Finally, we all know that voter ID is back on the table in many states- IDs that are akin to a poll tax. This form of oppression requires protest and indeed requires us all to look at it with scorn and disgust. When we oppress the least of our brothers, we are oppressing all of us. Like if you agree. Comment if you must.
