Paucity of Ideas
One source of republican anger is that the party as a whole has no ideas. This has forced them into the position of opposing everything. America has correctly noticed this and concluded conservatism is out of ideas. Thus, smart people see trend and are leaving the GOP. Like if you agree. Comment if you want.
