The Senate confirmed Robert Gates to succeed Rummy as SecDef today, by a vote of 95-2. It should be comforting to know that he was voted against by two of the biggest Repug dingbats, Santorum and Bunning, but knowing John Cornyn (R-Tx) supported him is always worrisome. Anyway, he's in, bringing a fresh new approach, and undoubted victory in Iraq.
