Arianna has a great post on the effect Murtha is having on the Iraq debate, and his ability to peel off the disaffected in the Repug/conservative ranks. But one line in it really struck me.

Karl Rove, who has a PhD in the ways of the conservative mind, knows that a distrust of imperial adventures, nation building, and a blank check approach to government are deeply engrained in it. The claim that bringing democracy to Iraq -- and keeping our troops there to ensure it -- is crucial to our national security is becoming a harder and harder sell.

Doesn't that PRECISELY describe Numbnut's entire Presidency?

I watched Murtha on C-Span when he took on the Republicans on the House floor. He was very down to earth, very straight forward, and handled himself better than a lot of politicians with bigger names. I'm a liberal Democrat but I have no problem with creating alliances with people who are beginning to question the Bush machine. This nation has a problem and it's going to take more than liberals to deal with it.

Thanks for catching Arianna. She has great scoops sometimes but like a lot of other people she sometimes goes days without saying much. When she has a particularly good article, it's worth spreading the word around.
