In a victory for reindeer and grizzlies in Alaska manatees and mantas in Florida, and sharks and surfers in California, the House dropped plans to open ANWR and the continental shelves to drilling today. Of course, at the rate Alaska is melting, it will soon look like the Sahara and that may enable them to slip this back through.
