"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead (Mostly what other say will be in italics, what I say will not. There will be occasions when this is messed up or forgotten, but generally it will true- for those keeping track of the opining vs the reporting!)

Birthday Presents?
For those of you with Alzheimers that forgot my birthday yesterday, may I offer this as 'make-up' present idea? :)
Kind of scary article
...but the TITLE is one of the greatest ever..... did they leave out ANY hotbutton?
Alleged Nazi Jihadist Blamed Pedophile Pastor For Hatred Of America
Supporting Our Troops
Can we just shut the hyperbanks down, gut MERS, and arrest anyone who owns anything called a tranche of anything else?

Quelle Surprise
We need a publicly financed election system in this country, badly. And NOW.

Paranoia As Prelude
Amazingly good piece on why Loughner's murders were probably not politically motivated, merely politically enabled.
Dismal Science
Economics is refered to as the dismal science, and times like these are more dismal than most.
"Jindal looks even worse in oil spill report"
And Jindal is supposed to be one of the young Repugs bright lights.
The Onion Strikes
Why is that the best news and commentary these days are coming from the Daily Show and the Onion?
"It's strange, but when it comes to getting inside the mind of this human being who seems to possess no empathy, sense of morality, or hold on reality, and who is motivated only by personal animus and self-glorification, the nation's major political pundits have been amazingly adept."

Scary, but hardly surprising
Military losing too many junior officers
If Only Heroes Have Guns, Will Even Bad Guys Be Heroes?
One more gun at the shooting that, thank God, did not get fired.
Citigroup Almost Failed
Wow! I knew they were in trouble, with bad management and crazy investments, but didnt realize it gotten THAT bad!
More Erickson
Erickson, now that he's on TV, is making a play to be more offensive than Rushbo and Glenny
Great News for Gabby Giffords
I heard on the radio today that they had her sitting up with her legs off the bed. That's really hopeful news.
Rush Comes Down
Well, off a billboard anyway. Anything that embarrasses Rushbo AND Clear Channel has to be good. :)
Why DO Conservatives Hate Science So Much?
Good stuff. Being liberal's header pretty much sums reality: "If you had a scientist and a priest telling you conflicting things, who would you believe?"

This is an amazing video. Half the time, the only way to tell which is real and which is the game is the game artifact of dials on the screen. Unbelievable. Reality is, as they say, highly overrated! :)
Gov Goodhair Shouldn't Run for Prez
Gee, what a surprise! Gov Goodhair is a complete teaparty secessionist presiding over the collapse of the state, and people are thrilled with him! I'm SHOCKED!
Where the Rubber Meats the Road
Or the Republicans meet the Reality.....
Key Takeaway: "Over the past couple of years, Republicans have done reasonably well
taking orders from Donohue and his crowd, while distracting Tea Partiers
with shiny objects. If I had to guess, I'd say Boehner & Co. will
stay the course with this strategy, and count on confused Tea Partiers
being easily misled, but it won't be easy...."
Morons who live in glass TV sets shouldn't throw stones.....
Speaking of the Douchebag
a brilliant takedown.
Best Line of the Year
Okay, it's early yet, but...
"Bankers are like 5-year-olds," said Barry Ritholtz, a New York money manager who writes the Big Picture economics blog. "If you leave them unsupervised with a bowl of candy, they will eat it all and throw up all over everyone. Volcker got that."
Social Network
Just got back from seeing Social Network...
really good, Eisenberg was amazing altho probably really stylized (seemed almost hi-function autistic) and Justin Timberlake was unexpectedly good as Parker. Wow, go see it.
Barefoot and Pregnant
Now shut up and get in the kitchen and make me some biscuits.
What Kind of Medication
...is Glenn Beck on? The nation hangs in the balance on Sarah Palin's safety?
I may break my pledge in Rush's case......
I pledged to back off the violent rhetoric, but Rushbo may push me out of it. Or not.
Wow! Confucius Statue in Tiananmen Square
This is a sign of something, but with China, who knows what! Big change.

Amen
Sheriff points the finger where it belongs
Hey Tea Party
This is your public
Talk about Prescient
Gabby on Palin's crosshairs
Palin to Blame
Congresswoman Gabby Giffords was shot and killed at an event in her district this afternoon, along with a federal judge and several others, including a 9 year old girl. The killer has been apprehended and details are still developing.
One interesting sidenote: Giffords was on Palin's 'target' list for the fall elections. You remember the list with its crosshairs and the motto, don't retreat, reload. Is Palin culpable in Giffords' death? Probably not in an actionable legal sense, but morally, I would say she deserves her share of the blame, along with Rush, and blubberin' Glenny, and the other wingnut morons on talk radio who have decidedly roused the rabble.
Update: According to the local sherriff's office, the Congresswoman is still alive. Thank God.

Bank of America Scrambling to Mount Defense Amid Threat of Devastating WikiLeaks Reveal

Top Gear: Movie Car Chases
I'd agree with all the choices, altho I'd rank RONIN higher (prob. second) :)
The Euros even get better car ads than we do
Plus healthcare and unemployment insurance! Hardly seems fair. The Honda ad, first on the list, seriously, may be the BEST ad I've ever seen (and I've seen a LOT!) :)
Our Benighted Media
Once more a glowing combination of rightwing morons and lamebrain MSMers. WHee. This country was a great idea. Let's hope Canada can carry on the tradition.
I loves me some big time medias
"...and, now, April, with a fifteen minute piece on the mayor's hairpiece while we pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..."
Shattered Dreams and Broken Promiese? Let's Hope!
I think this is probably correct. They wont be able to change much, but they can refuse to fund a lot of things that need funding. It's going to be ugly.
I agree, but I posted it just cuz I love the headline :)

As appealing as Chairman Mao.....Oh Sweet Jesus, this really is going to be ugly. It's hard to be dumber than Darrell, and they gave him a gavel.
New Toshiba Tablet
Had been wondering where this was; Toshiba has always been the leader in laptops, so it seemed odd they hadn't really jumped to tablets.
Good Analogy about MERS
Good analogy for understanding MERS, and trust me, you need to, if you have, or plan on getting a mortgage.
If You're a Woman, Be Afraid
If you're of childbearing years, learn this phrase: barefoot and pregnant; if you're past childbearing years, learn this one: ice floe.
Top Gear: Favo(u)rite Cars
Gotta agree with all of em except maybe the Focus, and even it is a damned good car. The best of all, of course, is the Dacia, if only cuz Capt Slow loves it so much :)
What Would Mickey Do?
I may have posted on this before, but it really cheeses me (and I don't even LIKE NJ!) It seems to me that anytime you elect a Repug to office, he becomes a sleazy, moronic twit (assuming, of course, that he wasn't one before!) Christie is basking at Disney while blaming others for the state not being ready, after he s...lashed budgets. Cheesy, sleazy, corrupt, and stupid. Just sayin'.
Let's Hope!
Kucinich may be a bit extreme, but I sure hope he's right that the wingnut pushback against HCR will, ultimately, lead to Medicare for all.

It's the wingnut tea partyistas in wingnut tea party run states that are. Hypocrisy much?

These aren't nice folks; their collective rap sheet includes fraud, sex discrimination, collusion to bribe public officials... even laundering drug money for Mexican drug cartels.
