Bill Safire Dead
Former Nixonite and NYT Columnist William Safire has died of pancreatic cancer. Usually, I'm not that moved when conservatives dies, but Safire was not a totally unrepetant fascist as so many of his comperes are. He was also, to my pleasure and his credit, a word freak. His books and columns on words and linquistics were a pleasure to read and usually made one smile and think, even if he was being overly pedantic at the time. He will be missed.
