In the 14th Amendment:
What's next? Children of convicted felons won't necessarily be citizens? Children of war protesters? Democrats?
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."
The only upshot of this is that if they attempt it, it's likely to alienate the large (and growing) Hispanic vote. There's no way it could pass SCOTUS muster, but even the attempt could cripple them.
