Evil, Evil Bastards

The seriously nazified wing of the already fascist-enough-thank-you Republican Party is at it again. They want to craft a law denying citizenship to children, born in the U.S., to illegal immigrants. Despite their protestations of being 'strict constructionists', this flies in the face of the Constitution.

In the 14th Amendment:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."
What's next? Children of convicted felons won't necessarily be citizens? Children of war protesters? Democrats?

The only upshot of this is that if they attempt it, it's likely to alienate the large (and growing) Hispanic vote. There's no way it could pass SCOTUS muster, but even the attempt could cripple them.
