"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead (Mostly what other say will be in italics, what I say will not. There will be occasions when this is messed up or forgotten, but generally it will true- for those keeping track of the opining vs the reporting!)

Who's the New Turd Blossom
With it seeming increasingly likely the either Presidential Advisor Karl Rove or VP Cheney'sChief of Staff 'Scooter' Libby, or both, will be indicted on something, the White House is scrambling to find a substitute 'Brain' for Rove. The frontrunners appear to be current WH Communications Director, Dan Bartlett, and Ken Mehlman, the Head of RNC. Neither appears to me to be the equal of Rove in Machiavellian machinations, but neither has the reputation for seeing politics as a blood sport that Rove has. So, the WH is likely to be both less pro-actively creative and less vicious. On the whole, either seems a win for Dems in the near future (altho losing a distracted and harried Rove is probably a net minus)
