Police departments across the U.S. have a growing collection of toys used by the army.
This is a direct outgrowth of the colossally failed war on drugs. Legalize drugs and take the big money out of illicit drugs and the gangs will collapse which will allow the demilitarization of the police (they will kick and scream, but, ultimately, it will not only be possible, but inevitable.
